The game is set in a fictionalized, near-future version of Bolivia, which has been seized by a powerful and ruthless Mexican drug cartel known as Santa Blanca. The cartel has turned the country into a narco-state, spreading corruption, fear, and violence.
Players step into the boots of a "Ghost"—an elite member of a fictional United States Special Operations forces unit. The mission, codenamed Operation Kingslayer, is to covertly infiltrate the country, establish an alliance with the local rebel faction (the Kataris 26), and systematically dismantle the cartel piece by piece.
